Marriage

Marriage

Heavenly Father,
be ever present in our marriage and in our home.
In a fast changing world keep us mindful of your grace.
Hold us in your arms in times of unease and give us courage to say, "I'm sorry" when we are wrong.
Help us to make our home a place of refuge, peace and love
where there's welcome and laughter.
Thank you, Lord, for the love, respect and devotion men and women share in marriage.
As we grow old together keep us loyal and faithful to each other and to you,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Joan Blake

God of love,

we thank you for our marriage

which has allowed us to share our lives with each other.

As we begin another year together,

strengthen our love, give us patience and wisdom,

help us to share our hope and fears

with each other

and to trust in your goodness.

Amen
(MU The prayers We Breathe)

We pray, Lord, for all those who are married, that you would guide them into the oneness of life that is your design for husband and wife. May they praise you for the past, thank you for the present and trust you for the future.

Eternal God, author of harmony and happiness,
we thank you for the gift of marriage in which men and women seek and find fulfilment, companionship,
and the blessing of family life.
Give patience to those who look forward to marriage.
Give courage to those who face trials within their marriage.
Give comfort to those whose marriage has broken.
Give gratitude to those whose marriages are successful and fruitful and let their lives reflect your love and glory.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father,
who gave marriage to be a source of blessing,
we thank you for family life, with all its joys and sorrows.
May we know your presence and peace in our homes;
fill them with your love and use them to your glory.
Bless all who are married and every parent and child.
Pour out upon us your Holy Spirit that we may truly love and serve you.
Bless the members of the Mothers' Union throughout the world.
Unite us in prayer and worship, in love and service,
that, strengthened by your grace, we may seek to do your will,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
